Emory Fry, MD, Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Emory Fry leads the overall operations of the company, clinical vision for the company and leads product development. He is a neonatologist and a recognized leader in the field of health informatics, with over 15 years of experience in the design and development of enterprise clinical information systems.
Dr. Fry brings clinical insight to Cognitive, from his past experience as a Chief Medical Informatics Officer at a tertiary medical center, regional Chief Informatics Officer, and Department Head for clinical decision support and application development. He has been involved in numerous national Department of Defense (DoD) initiatives as Program Director, including the Nationwide Health Information Network (NwHIN) and Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record (VLER) programs.
Douglas W. Burke, President and Cofounder
Doug Burke manages the company’s sales, marketing, and business development. His strength in successfully building enterprise software and technology startups is instrumental to the company’s growth trajectory. Previously, Mr. Burke served as CEO of DefenseWeb Technologies, a provider of secure health information systems for military health organizations that was acquired by Humana in 2007. He’s held other executive-level positions at SAIC, HNC Software, Prodesis, and Globeset.
Jaime Gerkin, Vice President of Operations
Jaime Gerkin is responsible for directing and managing the company’s finance, operations, and human resources functions in accordance with industry best practices, company objectives, and corporate policies. Using her background in Human Resources, Jaime utilizes targeted management strategies that enable Cognitive to recruit, train, and retain a high-performing workforce to help drive Cognitive to the pinnacle of its potential. Additionally, Jaime is the company lead for ongoing projects, focusing on fostering trust and growth in the company’s business relationships.
Prior to joining Cognitive, Jaime spent most of her career managing Human Resources in large engineering, procurement, and construction firms, leading such functions as employee relations, payroll processing, benefits administration, recruiting, and State and Federal employment law compliance. Jaime is a graduate of the Unversity of Northern Colorado.
Andrea (Salcido) Fondacaro, Senior Technical Recruiter & Human Resources Manager
Andrea Fondacaro is responsible for the execution of all of Cognitive’s recruiting and hiring efforts. With over fifteen years of experience in staff augmentation, managed services and talent acquisition, Andrea brings experience in both the corporate and agency side of the recruiting industry. Andrea partners with Cognitive’s IT team leaders to forecast department goals and hiring needs. Additionally, Andrea is the Human Resources Manager overseeing HR functions while managing the HR and Administration team.
Prior to joining Cognitive, Andrea spent most of her career recruiting for large consumer electronics and education technology services companies after transitioning from professional staffing. With her dual role, Andrea strives to promote Cognitive’s brand to attract and retain exceptional talent who then have an opportunity to have a powerful positive impact on healthcare.
Tim Foley, Engineering Manager
Tim Foley is responsible for managing the engineering staff as well as utilizing his knowledge of software engineering best practices to provide technical direction for the company. Tim brings insights to Cognitive Medical Systems gained from over 20+ years of working on software systems of all sizes in both the public and private sectors. Tim has demonstrated proficiency as a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and effectively influence across teams.
